What is SSO2 Therapy?
Timely recognition and diagnosis of a heart attack, in conjunction with prompt restoration of coronary blood flow, are critical for achieving optimal short- and long-term patient outcomes. However, even with adequate reperfusion through currently available surgical or pharmacological techniques, restoration of flow can be compromised by microvascular damage and poor microvascular blood flow.
TherOx Introduces SuperSaturated Oxygen (SSO2) Therapy
SSO2 Therapy is a novel therapy that complements percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). It is designed to ameliorate progressive myocardial necrosis by minimizing microvascular damage in heart attack patients and reducing the damage to heart muscle. SSO2 Therapy creates and delivers SuperOxygenated arterial blood directly to reperfused areas of myocardial tissue which may be at risk of infarction.
